Testicular sperm extraction (TESE) is a surgical procedure that is used to extract sperm directly from the testicles of men who have no sperm in their semen due to various reasons such as congenital absence of the vas deferens, previous vasectomy, or abnormal sperm production.
During the procedure, a small incision is made in the scrotum, and a sample of tissue is removed from the testicle. The tissue is then examined under a microscope to locate and extract viable sperm, which can be used forintracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). TESE is a relatively safe and effective option for men who want to father a child but are unable to produce sperm through other methods.
